Here are reports from our trail bosses:

Mt. Spokane

This year Evergreen East has achieved a long time goal (5 years I think) of getting to building a new top to bottom trail at Mt Spokane. Not only is it Mountain bike ONLY but it is also directional (descending). The build permits took all summer to come through but about 3 weeks ago they came in, and we started building. Our goal is to get from the snowmobile parking lot down to the bottom of 120/121 (the lowest parking area in the park). We are trying to hand dig as much of the trail as possible to keep that great single track feel, but there will be sections of machine built trail that we will go through and polish into some fun. The process of hand building takes quite a bit more time but we feel as long as the weather is on par with other years we will have the lower section done before the freezing temps set in for the winter. As of now the plan is to begin the upper half (No Alibi ski run down to snowmobile parking lot) starting in the spring of next year. A few highlights of what this trail will do for Mt Spokane are conflict avoidance, lighten the usage on existing trails and provide new fun and challenges. The trail is best described as a cross between a flow trail and old school single track. Or think 140, a little narrower with just a bit more pitch and purpose built for bikes. For more information and specific details check out Mt Spokane’s State Parks 20 Year Plan.

Camp Sekani

Simple Tools was unknowingly built without proper permission on private land.  We put a temporary re-route in place that we plan to polish this fall to make permanent, and hopefully a better climbing route.

This season we built and completed the trail Stahligrad, which is an intermediate jump line on the eastern side of beacon.

The dirt jump area underwent half of the rebuild that will be completed this fall.

The skills park area has been redesigned and deconstruction has began.

We have plans to finish the trail Buck Wild, finish Hollywood (upper portion)and to have much larger efforts towards trail maintenance (check calendar for fall dates)

We also plan on finishing the succession of jumps in the dirt jump area, starting with small tables, bigger tables, and the beginner gap jumps.

We’ll be working with the education folks re-vamping the skills area.
