Please join Evergreen East on June 1st for a ride through the cool wilderness of Mica Peak Conservation Area.  Explore the quiet beauty of the forest and flow down some of the funnest mountain singletrack in our area!  We have these awesome trails thanks to the many volunteer hours of trail work by Evergreen East and Washington Trails Association.

We will break often on the climb up to take in the panoramic views of the Spokane Valley and Palouse (and catch our breath!) on this no drop ride.  Due to a higher and abrupt elevation change on the climb and primarily blue and black trails for the descent, a rider level of Intermediate and above is recommended.  Expect 6-7 miles and 1200-1300 feet elevation for the Intermediate ride and up to 10 miles and 1800 feet for the Strong Intermediate/Advanced ride.  Please see the Ride Description below for details on rider level and possible routes.

Directions:

We will be meeting at the Belmont Trailhead of Mica Peak Conservation Area https://maps.app.goo.gl/1GDiqr4yxJLf4ZTr5.  Please be ready to roll at 10:00 am!

Ride Description:

Intermediate riders will be climbing green trails and doubletrack (California Creek, Granny Fee, Moonshine).  This group will be taking several breaks on the way up to catch our breath and take in the views, since the elevation comes up quick.  We will be descending green and blue flow single track trails (Lower Silicate Slide, with options of either California Creek or A Cart Before the Horse).  Advanced Beginners that are able to ride up to 3 hours and feel confident on blue flow trails with tighter berms, short steep roll downs, and are comfortable riding wide wood ladder bridges may be able to do this ride.  Expect approximately 6.5 miles and 1250 feet of elevation on this route.

Strong intermediate/advanced riders will be ascending green trails and doubletrack as mentioned above.  They will split off from the Intermediate group and continue on the Moonshine doubletrack to the top of Upper Silicate Slide.  This is a black flow trail with steep and tight catch berms, some exposure, and optional jumps.   Depending on the group, descent may continue on to the blue flow goodness of Lower Silicate Slide and A Cart Before the Horse or (for advanced riders), the raw, steep, rooty, chutey gnar of Sunday School followed by the speedy blue Cub Scout.  This ride could be up to approximately 10 miles and 1800 feet of elevation.

See Trailforks.com for more trail details.  The full route down will be decided before descending on the day of the ride and according to skill level of each group.  Let’s have fun and adventure but also ride safely and within our skill level.

Important!  Please bring your bike in good working condition, a helmet, repair tools/supplies, plenty of water for up to a 3 hour ride, snacks, and additional safety gear like knee/elbow pads if needed.  The bugs up at Mica are quite nasty this time of year, so you will also want to bring some strong insect repellant!
